Artwerk Wander

Artwerk Wander is a conceptual framework that bridges the philosophy of New Materialism, phenomenology, and walking as an artistic practice. It reframes art as an unfolding, dynamic ecology of relations rather than just a static object to be planned, crafted, and displayed. The core tenets of this reflective practice can be unpacked through its engagement with sociomateriality, embodied motion, and the agency of art.

To explore the interplay between the agency of artwork and the becoming of the work of art. Their path in human and non-human environments and their embodiment along with the motion through medium. We seek to experience understanding, and we unfold the essence of art, which lies not solely in the process of designation and planning (thinking), making and crafting (acting), in its beginning to its finished form (production). But also in the fabric of the sociomateriality of the artwork itself, which opens up new fields of relation for time/space/sense in material, thoughts, and memory through ongoing relationship mapping of the field of experience.

We invite all traveling artwork to join the wanderer in the Black Forest. We accept all forms medium of art from all stage. Artists dwelling in urban can send their artworks to us (digital/ physical) or bring them along as we hike together.

Carrying others’ works of art is no simple task; it requires care to convey their message while remaining silent. Let these artworks journey to foreign places without a specific purpose; what matters is the experience of the journey itself. For the wanderer, it’s merely a direction, a passage through the thoughts that arise while walking.

//Submission
We require a short document to accompany your pieces, sharing your dialogue and thoughts. Once confirm the date schedule, you can send your artwerk, including the return shipping fee, along with any amount you wish to contribute to our water, coffee, and snacks fund (this is optional). After the hike, a stamp tag will be included with your artwerk to return home.

We welcome artwerk based on your concepts or ideas—finished pieces are not necessary.
